Our bodies are made to move. Movement nourishes our body by lubricating our joints, increasing blood flow, circulation, lymphatic flow, and by mobilizing our tissues and nerves, so that we can function optimally. Movement can help to improve sleep, decrease stress and improve mood, which is so important in today's fast paced, competitive society. Heck movement can even help with our digestion...and so much more.
Today we have all time high rates of inactivity contributing to physical ailments such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and physical injuries, as well as mood and behavioural disorders. These conditions, and many more, can be significantly improved, if we just move! This can be initiated at any age and you don't need any fancy tools. All you need is yo body. Make the decision to move daily with the intention of becoming a healthier version of yourself. Take that step now! You can do it!
You can start slow, but I do encourage you to challenge yourself. In order for us to change and grow we need to challenge our system on a regular basis. If we keep doing the same thing day after day then what do you expect will happen? Absolutely nothing! You will stay the same. Make movement a lifestyle choice and add a variety of different movements into your day. Try standing on one leg while you brush your teeth, or vacuum using your non-dominant hand. Have you ever watched a toddler move and explore his/her environment? It's amazing how many different positions they get into, and they explore the world with a curiosity that we adults are lacking. They also naturally challenge their bodies by seeing how far they can jump, run, or climb. If they can do it, so can you!
Stay curious, stay present, challenge yourself, and go for it! Take that first step today. And if you fall??......well, get the heck back up and go again! Failure isn't failing....failure is when you don't even try in the first place. Change your life one step at a time. Get yo body moving!
