Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, also called pelvic health physiotherapy, is the assessment and treatment of various conditions that often involve the pelvis and pelvic floor musculature, ligaments, nerves, and connective tissue.  It plays an important role in bowel/bladder function, sexual function, and core stability.  Common conditions include urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pain with intercourse, diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and pelvic/hip/low back pain.

Labour & Delivery (Birth) Preparation

I will perform an assessment of your body and pelvis to determine if there are any areas of tightness and/or weakness that may impact your pregnancy and birth.  This often includes an internal pelvic floor examination.  I will perform hands-on therapy, and recommend specific exercises, to create body balance and symmetry.  Creating balance within your body will help make it easier for your baby to travel down the birth canal, and will help to ease any pains that you may be feeling.  I will perform pelvic and perineal awareness so that your body knows what sensations to expect during birth, and I will give you strategies to manage those sensations, such as breathing techniques or position changes.   I do recommend your partner attend one session with you to review labour and birth positions, as well as comfort measures that may help during labour and birth.  Lastly, we discuss your fears and goals about your birth experience, as your own thoughts and beliefs can either positively or negatively affect your birth.  My goal is to help you feel empowered and confident about your upcoming birth.

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy

For all your orthopaedic or musculoskeletal concerns, from ankle sprains and shoulder tendonitis to back pain, sciatica, arthritis, and neck pain.  I actively listen to your concerns and perform an assessment to help find and address the root cause of your pain.  In a private setting, with one on one care, I use hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and lots of education to help you achieve the freedom to function and achieve your goals.  I have additional training in acupuncture, pelvic health, labour/birth prep, taping, yoga, and persistent pain.  Helping you to move well so you can live well.

Physio-Doula & Childbirth Education

As a Physio-Doula and Childbirth Educator I am here to provide you and your birth partner with information, advice, emotional support and physical comfort before, during and after childbirth.  I will guide you, support you, believe in you and empower you.  I will become part of your birth team and will stand in your corner through-out your labour and birth journey.

Medical Acupuncture and Dry needling

Through a holistic approach to medicine, I try viewing each patient as a whole rather than a single symptom to be treated. This is just one of many procedures I perform when coming up with any diagnosis. Your health deserves proper care and attention and I’m able to provide. Acupuncture/Dry needling can be a great adjust to your regular treatment plan.
